Four Cougars Hit Double-Digits in Lopsided Victory Over Mustangs

Conway, Arkansas – The Columbia College women’s basketball team wrapped up its weekend American Midwest Conference road trip today as they cruised to a lopsided 32-point win over the Mustangs of Central Baptist College, 79-47. With the win, the Cougars improve to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the AMC, while the Mustangs fall to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in the AMC. 

Columbia led in rebounds (54-42), assists (14-6), and blocks (3-0). The Cougars had their best play in the second and fourth quarter as they outscored the Mustangs 17-9 in the third and then 27-9 in the fourth. 

Four different Cougars finished in double-digit points as Abby Backes led the way with 18 points, hitting five of seven from beyond the arc. Mackenzie Hess followed with 15 points, and DeLaney Horstman and Peyton Crowe each finished with 11 points, respectively. 

Allison Stiers distributed five assists and pulled down eight rebounds. Mya Miller had a game-high 10 rebounds. 

Columbia takes a week off before their next action when they travel to Phoenix, Arizona for an exhibition contest against NCAA Div. 1 opponent Grand Canyon University.
