Esports Takes Thrilling Round Over Arizona State

Columbia, MO – The Columbia College Esports team takes a thrilling win in the round of 16 of the College League of Legends Championship with a 2-1 win over Arizona State University in a best of 3 series on Sunday.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Zach Lapham was able to secure 10 kills on 3 assists and only had two deaths. David Sin-Keo also had 3 kills on 10 assists and three deaths. Columbia started the match by avoid skirmishes with ASU to secure objectives. ASU looked strong early taking a lead in both kills and gold. CC were able to turn the table with great play from Zach Lapham and David Sin-Keo by catching ASU trying to get Baron which ultimately led to CC taking Baron and Soul Point on dragons. This heads up play led to Arizona State losing game 1.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
David Sin-Keo led CC with securing 2 kills and 3 deaths. Both ASU and CC decided to pick the same champions for game 2 aside from David Sin-Keo Viego pick. This proved to be challenging for CC as ASU was able to deny David the ability to build up his character which led to CC being down in all categories. ASU went on to secure the victory and take game 2 in a dominating fashion.

Game 3 Individual Leaders
David Sin-Keo led CC with securing 7 kills, 5 assists and only 2 deaths. Zach Lapham also had 7 kills, 9 assists and 3 deaths. Columbia dominated play early catching ASU in some compromising positions and able to take advantage early game on kills. The bottom and mid lanes dominated early which allowed CC to secure Soul Point and Baron and looked to end the game in the ASU base. ASU was able to catch CC outside their base to put CC in a disadvantage for the Elder Dragon. ASU was able to secure Elder Dragon and Baron to march on CC base. CC had to hold the defense deep in their base and was fortune enough that David Sin-Keo and Zach Lapham was able to hold of the buffs of the Elder Dragon and Baron long enough for their teammates to respawn in the base. Once CC had respawned they were able to push towards the next Elder Dragon who spawned later in the match and secure the dragon with great team work by catching ASU in a compromising position. Once CC secured the dragon they took down the Baron and marched towards ASU base to finish off the thrilling 3 match.
