Dubois, Wilmes Named Nominees for McWhorter Award

BIRMINGHAM, Mo. – Jack Dubois from Mizzou Swim & Dive and Brooke Wilmes from Mizzou Softball were announced Friday as the University of Missouri’s nominees for the SEC’s H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship. The McWhorter Award has been presented annually by the SEC since 1986 to the league’s top male and female scholar-athletes.

One male and one female from each of the SEC’s 14 institutions are nominated for the scholarship, and the overall recipients of the award are set to be announced in early May. The SEC provides the league’s male and female McWhorter Award recipients with a $20,000 post-graduate scholarship. The 26 remaining male and female finalists for the award all receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship. The award recipients are chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from the 14 SEC institutions.

Jack Dubois, Men’s Swimming & Diving

  • Holds the Mizzou 500 freestyle school record
  • Ranks second all-time at Mizzou in the 1000 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 400 IM and ninth in the 200 freestyle
  • NCAA Qualifier in the 500 free in 2019 and the 400 IM in 2021
  • Two-time All-America Honorable Mention in the 800 free relay (2019, 21)
  • Holds 17 individual event wins in his career
  • Three-time Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll (2020, 21, 22)
  • First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll (2019)

Brooke Wilmes, Softball

  • Ranks among the Top-10 in Mizzou softball history in hits (3rd), runs (T-3rd), doubles (T-2nd), home runs (T-8th) and RBI (7th)
