Davis Scores Team-High 17 Points Against Wichita State

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Despite a team-high 17 points by Amari Davis, the Missouri men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start against Wichita State, Friday evening at home, 61-55.  

Wichita State (4-1) took the early lead, and despite multiple attempts, Mizzou was never able to overtake the Shockers efforts. Down 12 with a minute and a half left, Mizzou went on an 8-2 run to end the game, but the clock ran out on any last-minute comeback attempt.

In addition to Davis, Mizzou (3-3) was led by 10 points from Jarron Coleman who also tallied four assists and four rebounds. Kobe Brown led the Tigers on the boards for the second-time this season with eight.

TOP TIGERS

  • Friday was Coleman’s second double-digit outing of the season. He also grabbed a season-high two steals.
  • Brown continued to be an all-around player with an impressive stat line of eight points, eight boards, four steals and three assists. His four steals tied a career-high.

GAME NOTES

  • Friday was the fourth game this season Mizzou has led points in the paint, doing so 36-30.
