Cox Tabbed SEC Volleyball Freshman of the Week

Kaylee Cox

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou outside hitter Kaylee Cox has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 7).

The rookie outside hitter was electric in Mizzou’s two wins at the Cardinal Classic, recording her first collegiate double-doubles. Cox helped the Tigers sweep Northern Kentucky with 11 kills and a career-best 17 digs on Saturday afternoon before replicating her double-double with a career-high 21 kills and 14 digs against South Dakota.

Cox is the first true freshman to record double-doubles in consecutive matches since 2017 and just the second to accomplish the feat in the SEC era. Through the first two weekends of action, Cox is second on the team with 3.06 kills per set. She also ranks second on the club with 2.53 digs per set.

Cox and the Tigers return to action next weekend at the Rumble in the Rockies hosted by Wyoming. The Tigers will face Northwestern, UCSB and the host Cowgirls beginning Friday, Sept. 10.
