Cougars Sweep Avila; Win-Streak Extended to 14

Columbia, Mo. – The No. 19-ranked Columbia College volleyball team defeated Avila (Mo.) on Wednesday evening in the Arena of Southwell Complex.

The Cougars are now on a 14-game win streak and are 11-0 at home this season.

Set 1: Columbia 25 | Avila 16

The Cougars collected the first four points of the contest with four straight kills. Columbia did not look back, leading by as many as 11 throughout the first set. Abby Massengill led the Cougars with six kills to secure a 25-16 advantage.

Set 2: Columbia 25 | Avila 12
Columbia came out of the gates strong gaining a quick 10-3 edge over the Eagles. The Cougars would continue to dominate the entire set taking their largest lead of the match of 13, while also obtaining a hitting percentage of .312.

Set 3: Columbia 25 | Avila 15
Two Cougar kills and an ace allowed an early advantage 6-2. Columbia held their own from start to finish, never allowing an Eagle lead throughout the match.

Up Next: 
The Cougars will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Grand View (Iowa) Tournament. Columbia faces Montana Tech on Friday at 7:00 PM, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday against Viterbo (Wis.) and Trinity Christian (Ill.).
