Cougars Finish Week 3-0 With Win over Trojans

Columbia, Mo. – Columbia College Men’s Basketball finished the week a perfect 3-0 after an 80-45 win over the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University today. With the win, the team moves to 15-5 overall and 7-1 in American Midwest Conference play. The Cougars now sit in sole possession of first place in the AMC men’s basketball standings. 
 
Three different players finished with double-digit points as Collin Parker led the way with 15 points, while Tony Burks followed with 13 points to go along with seven rebounds. Trendon Tisdale went 3-4 from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points while also pulling down five rebounds. Tommy Hafer came off the bench to add nine points.

Columbia started strong and took a quick 15-4 lead after Trendon Tisdale knocked down a contested three-pointer off of a pass from Carson Parker. The Cougars built their lead to 19-5 and then to 31-11. Collin Parker and Tony Burks led the Columbia offense as they finished the first quarter with 11 and 10 points each, respectively. At the end of the first half, Columbia led HLGU 43-17.
 
Trendon Tisdale and Collin Parker got things going for Columbia to start the second half as they both scored to put the Cougars up 47-20. A made jumped from Carson Parker put the Cougars at the 50-point mark where Collin Parker would quickly score again to make the CC lead 53-22. Through seven more minutes of play, both teams traded baskets as a good three-pointer from Tommy Hafer made the Columbia lead 34-points at 62-28. The Trojans looked to gain some momentum as they used a 10-5 scoring run to cut Columbia’s lead to 69-38. It would not be enough as the Cougars would claim the win, 80-45.
