COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III was named a unanimous midseason all-America selection by CBS Sports.
Burden ranks second nationally with 808 receiving yards and fourth overall with 56 catches. The yardage total represents the most in Mizzou history for any receiver through seven games.
He started the season with five consecutive 100-yard receiving performances (Sept. 9-Oct. 7). The only Missouri receiver to previously exceed that feat was Danario Alexander, who recorded six straight 100-yard performances in 2009. Burden also registered seven straight games with seven receptions or more, extending to the final game of the 2022 season.
The St. Louis native’s average of 8.0 receptions per outing leads the SEC and ranks fourth among all FBS receivers this season.
MU celebrates its 112th homecoming game on Saturday with the Tigers holding a 66-40-5 record all time. The homecoming parade will start the day off at 9 a.m. CT through the streets of Downtown Columbia. The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 SEC) are coming off a 38-21 win at Kentucky – their first win in Lexington since 2013. MU is bowl eligible for the 37th time in school history and fourth-straight year under Drinkwitz, who is one of two MU coaches in 133 years of football to lead their team to bowl games in each of their first four season (Warren Powers, 1978-81).
