Baseball Season Ends in NAIA Opening Round

Marion, Ind. – The Columbia College baseball season came to an end in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Baseball World Series Opening Round.  
The Cougars end the season with a 37-11 record

Final Score Game 1: Olivet Nazarene 4, Columbia 14
Final Score Game 2: Indiana Tech 6, Columbia 2

The Scoring – Game 1:
T2 – Kole Ficken hit a sac fly to center scoring Duffin Makings (CC 1, ONU 0)
B2 – The Tigers tied it up with a solo run in their half of the second (CC 1, ONU 1)
T3 – Duffin Makings sent a 2-1 pitch over the right-field fence for a two-run home run (CC 3, ONU 1)
T5 – Hayden Ludwig and Kenny Piper scored on an error, and Brad Prebay scored on a sac fly by Jarett Newell. (CC 6, ONU 1)
T6 – Braden Desonia scored on a wild pitch (CC 7, ONU 1)
B6 – Olivet Nazarene tallied a run on a ground out (CC 7, ONU 2)
T8 – The Cougar offense exploded for seven runs highlighted by a Kole Ficken three-run home run (CC 14, ONU 2)
B9 – ONU added a pair of runs in the ninth, but it was not enough (CC 14, ONU 4)
 
Columbia Leaders – Game 1:
Hayden Ludwig led the Cougars with three hits, while Braden Desonia, Dalton Bealmer and Brad Prebay had two hits apiece. Kole Ficken drove in four runs. JP Schneider went 7.0 innings on the mound with three strikeouts and allowed just two runs to earn the win.

The Scoring – Game 2:
T2 – The Warriors scored three times on three hits (IT 3, CC 0)
B2 – Kendrick Delima and Kole Ficken hit home runs in the inning (IT 3, CC 2)
T3 – An RBI ground out added another run (IT 4, CC 2)
T6 – Back-to-back doubles led to another run (IT 5, CC 2)
T7 – Another double capped off the scoring (IT 6, CC 2)

Columbia Leaders – Game 2:
Kole Ficken recorded a game-high three hits. Braden Desonia and Kendrick Delima added two hits each for the Cougars. Ficken and Delima accounted for the two runs.
