An Update on Our Programming During COVID-19

KTGR’s Mission Statement: Provide quality and timely community-focused information and entertainment that is relevant to you, our mid-Missouri listener.

At KTGR, our priority remains supporting our clients and listeners through these difficult, uncertain times. We have helped our listeners and clients through the unusual events of other natural disasters, such as tornadoes and floods. We have always prepared to support our listeners and clients through unusual circumstances and COVID-19 is no exception.

It remains business-as-usual at KTGR in regards to informing and entertaining our audiences with pertinent information that impacts our local community. In the interest of preparation, however, we will be taking some precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our staff and their families.

There will be some changes in KTGR’s programming starting Monday, March 23rd, with the goal of not having more than one person in our studio at one given time. As a company, we are reallocating many of our resources to provide continuous news updates throughout the day and during the weekends, to serve the public interest. That means KTGR’s local sports programming – The Big Show and The Sports Wire – will go on hiatus under this plan. The shows aren’t going away for good, but we anticipate they’ll be off the air for at least two weeks. Matt and Andy will help our news operations during this time, and bring you sports content and updates on our social media pages and at KTGR.com.

You’ll also hear news updates every hour instead of formal local SportsCenter updates. ESPN Radio programming will continue 24 hours a day as the backbone of our commitment to you, the Mid-Missouri sports fan. As time goes on, we will adjust those plans as needed… and we look forward to getting The Big Show and The Sports Wire back on the air as soon as we can.

It’s a strange time for all of us, but we will get through together and become a stronger community because of it.

For more than 50 years Zimmer Communications has worked hard to be a stable, trusted community-partner for our listeners and clients. COVID-19 will not lessen our commitment to you and our community. We will remain here to serve you.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
