The St. Louis Cardinals were looking to close out the NLCS at home but a former Cy Young winner stood in their way.Zito pitched a masterful 7 2/3 innings for the Giants to help the series back to the Bay area after a 5-0 Giants win.

San Francisco got to Cardinals’ starter Lance Lynn in the 4th inning.  Hunter Pence started the scoring with a run scoring fielders choice.  He, along with Pablo Sandaval was driven home by Brandon Crawford.  Zito helped his own cause as the next batter when he singled home Gregor Blanco on a bunt.  Sandaval would homer in the 8th for the Giants’ 5th run of the game.

Yadier Molina was the lone bright spot on offense for the Cardinals, going 2-for-4 in the game.  The Cards best chance to score came in the 2nd when they had the bases loaded with 1 out, but Lance Lynn grounded into a double play and the Cards never seriously threatened again.
