The New York Yankees used a Robinson Cano three-run homer and a Lyle Overbay grand slam to defeat the Kansas City Royals, 8-1, Wednesday night.
Brett Gardner scored the Yanks’ first run on a wild pitch in the first inning before Cano went deep in the third. Ivan Nova stifled the Royals for one run over five innings and struck out six.
Eric Hosmer was the only Royal with multiple hits including an eighth-inning RBIs.
The Royals still have an opportunity to win the series at 12:05 with the final game as Ervin Santana takes on Andy Pettitte.
