Adam Wainwright continued his historic start Saturday Afternoon. Wearing a jersey without the script “Cardinals” for the first time since 1932, Wainwright did a little bit of everything as the Cardinals beat up the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, 8-0.
Wainwright pitched his 3rd consecutive game to start the season where he had at least 6 strikeouts and no walks, a major league record. He went the distance, striking out 12 and allowing just 4 hits.
At the plate, Wainwright silenced the critics of the NL’s lack of a DH with a 3 hit day, driving in 2. Matt Holliday also had 2 RBI’s, while John Jay, Yadier Molina, and Allen Craig each added an RBI as well off Yovani Gallardo, who took the loss for the Brewers.
St. Louis goes for the sweep (and 3 game shutout) Sunday afternoon as they send Jamie Garcia to the mound. Pregame begins at 12:20pm with first pitch coming your way at 1:05pm on The Big 900 KFAL.
