Missouri finally scored against the Bayou Bengals, but it wouldn’t be enough. Missouri would hold a 4 run lead early in the game, but on the strength of the long ball, LSU was victorious 6-5 Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Alec Rash was not as sharp as he was in Knoxville, allowing 4 runs in just 2 innings of work. Keaton Steele came in and stopped the bleeding, allowing just 1 run in his outing, but took the loss for Mizzou to fall to 2-1 on the year.
Mizzou had three straight hit batters, a walk, and single to go up 3-1. Missouri greeted the next LSU pitcher with a single from Jake Ivory and the Tigers had their biggest (and only) lead of the weekend, 5-1.
Mason Katz made it 5-4 in the top of the 3rd with his 3rd HR of the weekend with the LSU Tigers taking advantage of Mizzou errors to go up 6-5.
Missouri is now 9-15 on the year and 2-7 in SEC play. They’re back in action Tuesday at Busch Stadium against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Pregame starts at 6:15 with first pitch at 6:30pm on your home for Mizzou baseball, ESPN 100.5 and total sports station 103.1 KTGR.
