The Fighting Illini made things interesting down the stretch, but Mizzou found a way pull away in the end. Mizzou saw the lead shrink to 2 before a late scoring surge secured them an 82-73 victory in the Bud Light Braggin’ Rights Game Saturday evening.

In the most anticipated game of the season to date, the two teams didn’t disappoint.  With both teams entering the game in the top 12, it was expected to be close from tip to finish.  Neither team trailed by double digits in the game.

It’s the fourth straight win for Mizzou in the series and the Tigers have closed the all time series to 20-12 in favor of the Illini.

Lawrence Bowers, playing in his final Braggin’ Rights game, finished with a double double (23 points 10 rebounds).  Alex Oriakhi and Phil Pressey also had double doubles  (13 points 14 rebounds/12 points 11 assists respectively).  Jabari Brown also poured in 18 for the Tigers.

Missouri will be off for a week before heading to historic Pauley Pavilion to take on the UCLA Bruins on John Wooden Court.  The game will tip next Friday at 9pm on your home for the Mizzou Tigers, ESPN 100.5 and Total Sports Station 103.1 KTGR.
