It was not the kind of weekend the Missouri Tigers wanted to have in Nashville, TN.Missouri didn’t play poorly, but were outslugged by the number 2 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores in a 16-4 loss Sunday.
Keaton Steele started the game for the Tigers, but like many Tiger pitchers over the weekend, he was blistered by Vanderbilt’s lineup for 9 runs over 3 2/3 innings. Missouri’s John Miles, Eric Anderson, Alec Rash, and Jace James finished out the game, allowing the final 7 runs.
Missouri cut the lead to 4-3 on a Shane Segovia single in the 4th inning, but in the bottom of the inning, Vanderbilt scored 6 runs and the Tigers never got close again.
It was a rough weekend for Missouri pitching as Vanderbilt banged out 54 hits and scored 39 runs in the three game series.
