Missouri exploded out of an early season offensive funk to split a doubleheader with Tennessee on Saturday. It wasn’t without heartbreak in the first game as the Tigers saw the Volunteers win the first game 7-6. They would respond with a 14-6 victory in game two.
In game 1, Brett Graves continued to pitch well for the Tigers, going 5 innings and allowing just 2 runs. He struck out 3 and left the game with a chance to pick up his first win of the season. However, after the Tigers took a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the 9th, Tennessee scored twice, winning on a walk-off single.
Rather than fold, Missouri came out on fire in the second game, scoring at least 2 runs in each of the first 4 innings and never being challenged by the Vols. Alec Rash pitched well again, allowing just 1 run in 5 innings of work. He struck out 5 and did not walk a batter.
