The Day After: Mizzou Adjusts To Life Without Green-Beckham
The Missouri football team held its second Spring scrimmage on the day after Gary Pinkel dismissed WR Dorial Green-Beckham.
The wide receiver lost his spot on the team following his third off-the-field incident at Mizzou. Gary Pinkel said to reporters after practice, “I looked at a lot of things, number one we want to help Dorial get better [but] I have to protect the integrity of the program.”
Pinkel referenced redshirt freshman J’Mon Moore and sophomore Levi Copelin as players who stepped up Saturday in the second open scrimmage. Darius White was the starting outside receiver in Green-Beckham’s old position while Copelin moved inside to the spot vacated by White.
Following an impressive performance in the first scrimmage by RB Morgan Steward, starting running back Marcus Murphy followed up a three touchdown day of his own. The defense won the scrimmage, 18-16, on the final drive with an interception by Aarion Penton on Corbin Berkstresser.
