Steen Stops Blues Losing Streak

Alex Steen’s goal 52 seconds into the extra session gave the St. Louis Blues an extra point and their first win in six games, 4-3.

Steen made a winner out of third goaltender, Jake Allen, who made his NHL debut in place of injured Jaroslav Halak and ineffective Brian Elliott. Allen struggled to get his sea legs allowing two goals in the first period, but Vladimir Tarasenko and Chris Stewart gave the ‘Note a 3-2 second period lead.

Pavel Datsyuk equalized later in the period, but the Blues staved off two third-period power plays, allowing only one shot in the period.

The Blues earn their first win in February and now draw into an seventh-place tie with Dallas at 15 points. St. Louis heads to Calgary to continue its three-game road trip on Friday.
