Shields Blanks Jays

James Shields held Toronto scoreless through seven innings as the Royals scored all their runs in the first three innings in a 5-0 shutout of the Blue Jays.

Eric Hosmer drove in three of the five runs between RBI-singes from Alex Gordon and Emilio Bonifacio. Shields struck out nine batters, allowing just three hits.

Kansas City hosts the Seattle Mariners with a Labor Day-matinee Monday afternoon with Danny Duffy facing Felix Hernandez at 1:10 PM.
