Ervin Santana allowed four home runs to his old ball club in a 5-4 Kansas City Royals loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday night.
Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Chris Ianetta and Mark Trumbo all went deep off Santana, who dropped to 3-4 on the year. He pitched well outside of the long balls, striking out eight and allowing four hits outside of the homers.
The Royals plated runs in the fourth and fifth, and scored twice in the ninth, putting the tying run on second. Alcides Escobar had a chance to level the game, but flew out to end the affair.
The loss for the Royals was the sixth in seven games. Luis Mendoza will try and right the ship against Jason Vargas Friday at 7:10 PM.
