Santana, Royals Edge Indians

Ervin Santana continued Kansas City’s impressive start in the rotation. Santana pitched seven scoreless innings Saturday and watched as the bullpen nearly let it get away in a 3-2 victory for the Royals.

Salvador Perez had the big hit for the Royals, a 2 run blast in the second inning, to give them a 2-0 lead.  Santana did the rest as he fanned 5 batters while scattering 6 hits to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Cleveland made things interesting in the 9th as Michael Brantley tripled to plate Mark Reynolds and Lonnie Chisenhall, cutting the lead to 3-2.  Greg Holland recovered to pick up his 6th save of the season.

After missing Friday night’s game, the Indians and Royals will play a Day-Night Doubleheader on Sunday.  First game will begin at 210pm with the second game getting underway about 8pm.
