On a day when Michael Sam and the Mizzou football team were honored at halftime, the Missouri men’s basketball team won its second straight beating the Tennessee Volunteers, 75-70.

The Tigers shot 57 percent for the game, but it was a steal by Jabari Brown on an inbounds pass that denied the Vols a chance to tie the game while Mizzou was up three. Brown’s 24 points led Mizzou, but Missouri earned a surprising amount of production in the paint.

Torren Jones had eight points, Keanau Post added four and Johnathan Williams III had a bounce-back effort with 10.

During the halftime break, the Mizzou football team, led out by Sam received their Cotton Bowl trophy in their home town for the first time. The appearance for Sam was his first time in front of Mizzou fans since his ESPN interview Sunday night where he stated he was gay.
