The Kansas City Royals plated four runs in the eighth-inning to take their first home series in a month, with a 7-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Alex Gordon started the rally with a one-out double and Eric Hosmer’s seeing-eye single put the Royals ahead. After Salvador Ruiz reached on a fielder’s choice, Billy Butler brought him home with a run-scoring double. Lorenzo Cain put the game on ice with a two-run homer later in the frame.
The Royals had lost five straight series overall, their last win coming in their series with Anaheim May 13th through the 15th. Their last home series victory came May 4th through the 6th over the Chicago White Sox.
Kansas City welcomes in the Houston Astros for a three-game series beginning Friday night. James Shields faces Jordan Lyles in the series opener at 7:10 PM.
