Billy Butler and the Kansas City Royals are hot.
Butler drove in three runs on two hits, helping Kansas City to a 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants at Kauffman Stadium Friday night.
Butler’s first-inning home run drove in Omar Infante to give starter Jason Vargas an early 2-0 edge. The Giants tied that score in the third, but Butler’s ground ball through the right side of the infield drove in the first of two runs in the bottom of the sixth. From there, the KC bullpen had its usual success, and Greg Holland recorded his league-leading 33rd save.
Kansas City will try to win its seventh series in a row at the K on Saturday night. James Shields takes the hill against the Giants’ Tim Hudson at 6:10 pm.
