Royals Win Behind Chen

Posted by willp on July 24, 2013

The Kansas City Royals scored in each of the first three innings, and Bruce Chen allowed one run over six innings in KC’s 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night.

KC struck first in the first when a run came in on Billy Butler’s double-play groundout. Chris Getz singled home a run home in the second, and Mike Moustakas doubled another in during the third.

Chen has won each of his first two starts since returning to the Royals rotation, striking out four and allowing just a solo home run to Manny Machado. Greg Holland saved his 25th game despite allowing a run in the ninth.

Kansas City tries to take the lead in the series, tied at 1, in game three of four Wednesday night. Ervin Santana gets the ball for the Royals against Wei-Yin Chen at 7:10 PM.
