The Kansas City Royals have now won two in a row over the New York Yankees, taking a 3-1 decision Tuesday night in the Bronx.
The Royals scored a run in three consecutive innings in the sixth through eighth on solo home runs from David Lough and Billy Butler along with an Eric Hosmer RBI-double.
James Shields won his fourth game of the year, shaking off a first-inning RBI from Robinson Cano. The Royals have moved to within five games of first place Detroit.
The Royals and Yankees play game three of four on Wednesday with Wade Davis facing Ivan Nova at 6:05 PM.
