The New York Yankees took the final two games of their series with the Kansas City Royals with an 8-4 victory, Thursday night.
Despite jumping out to a 4-1 lead, the Royals relinquished the advantage by the fifth inning. Lyle Overbay turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead with an RBI-single. Zoilo Almonte and Eduardo Nuñez added consecutive singles to extend the lead to 7-4.
Royals starter Ervin Santana let up season-highs in hits and runs, surrending eight tallies on 10 knocks.
KC heads to Cleveland Friday trailing the Indians by 3.5 games for second place in the AL Central, while the Tribe trails Detroit by 2.5 games for the top spot.
