Royals starter Felipe Paulino didn’t make it out of the first due to a groin strain, and KC couldn’t score past the first, losing 4-2.
Yuniesky Betancourt’s first-inning home run was not enough as the Royals dropped two of three to the last place team in the AL Central. Justin Morneau gave the Twins the lead with a two-run single in the fifth inning and Jamey Carroll added an insurance RBI in the seventh.
Paulino’s status for the future is uncertain, he is slated to start Tuesday against the Brewers.
Following an off day Thursday, the Royals begin an interleague series on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates with Luke Hochevar starting for KC.
