The Kansas City Royals feel they got good value in a midseason trade with Colorado, good enough to extend the offer for Jeremy Guthrie to stay with the ‘Boys in Blue.
The Royals won 10 of Guthrie’s final 11 starts, with the 33-year-old right-hander going 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 14 starts. Guthrie came from the Rockies in exchange for Jonathan Sanchez, whose Royals experience wasn’t so rosy.
Guthrie went 4-2 at Kauffman Stadium, and had the league’s seventh-best ERA (2.17) from August 8th through the end of the season. He looks to return to the form he had in 2008 through 2010, where he won double-digit games every year in Baltimore.
