Royals Complete Blockbuster Trade

Posted by willp on December 10, 2012

The Kansas City Royals traded a prospect-package including Wil Myers to Tampa Bay for James Shields, Wade Davis and a player to be named later.

Myers, who played in the Futures Game and was KC’s organizational top prospect goes with RHP Jake Odorizzi, LHP Mike Montgomery and 3B Patrick Leonard to Tampa. Myers was the crown jewel of the farm system, hitting 24 home runs and 79 RBIs in 99 games with AAA Omaha.

Shields has won 13 or more games in his first three seasons in the big leagues, while Davis was solid after being converted to the bullpen this past offseason.
