The Kansas City Royals failed to get a sweep over the Detroit Tigers, falling in the finale of the series, 4-1, Sunday.
The two teams traded home runs after the first two innings when Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera and KC’s Miguel Tejada each went deep with solo shots. Andy Dirks hit a solo shot in the third for the Tigers, while former Royal Brayan Peña added two sacrifice-fly RBI.
Doug Fister outdueled James Shields, sending the Royals ace to a 4-7 record. KC sits seven back of first place as the Tigers leave town. The Royals welcome the Orioles to Kauffman Stadium, Monday, with Wade Davis facing Scott Feldman at 7:10 PM.
