Jason Heyward and Justin Upton homered back-to-back to complete an eighth-inning comeback by the Atlanta Braves on the Kansas City Royals in a 6-2 victory Tuesday night.
Dan Uggla also homered in the inning, capping a four-run frame in a game where the Royals led since the fourth inning. Jeremy Guthrie pitched well enough to win, allowing just two runs in seven innings with six strikeouts. Juan Francisco was the only batter Guthrie couldn’t figure out, knocking solo home runs of the KC hurler in the second and seventh innings.
The Royals scored their runs on a third-inning solo home run with Chris Getz and a Jeff Francoeur fourth-inning single.
KC will play a day game Wednesday to conclude their short stay in Atlanta, with an 11:10 AM CT start.
