The Royals faced the Cleveland Indians in Sandy Alomar Jr’s managerial debut Friday night and the home team gave their new man in charge something to celebrate with an 8-5 win.

KC scored first on an Adam Moore double to left field that scored Salvador Perez.  By the time Billy Butler homered in the 6th inning (his 29th of the season), it was too little too late.

Shin-Soo Choo led the Indians with 2 RBI’s on 2 doubles and Jason Kipnis added another 3 RBI’s for the Tribe.

Cleveland pitcher David Huff improved to 3-0 on the season, while KC rookie pitcher Will Smith fell to 6-9.

KC and Cleveland play again tonight at Progressive Field in Cleveland.  First pitch comes at 6:05pm and it’ll be Jake Odorizzi on the hill for the Royals against Jeanmar Gomez of the Indians.
