Rock Bridge Secures Home Playoffs

Posted by bfreeman on October 20, 2012

Rock Bridge needed a win to secure a first round home game in the 2012 MHSAA State Playoffs.  In Jeff City, they got exactly what they needed.

The Bruins started fast and cruised in the second half to pick up a 28-18 victory over the Jeff City Jays.

Rock Bridge QB Logan Twehaus led the way for the Bruins, going 13-22 with 2 touchdown passes to Zach Reuter.  The second TD, an 29 yarder, came on the final play of the first half to give Rock Bridge their final tally of the night.

Rock Bridge’s first quarter was punctuated by a 42 yard Freeman Simmons TD run and a Kenny James 92 yard kickoff return for a TD.  Simmons would later leave the game.  His status for the playoffs is unknown to this point.

In the second half, it was the Bruins defense that stepped up, forcing two interceptions and getting three seperate 4th down stops of the Jays.  The Jays actually outgained the Bruins 266-265 in the game, but the Rock Bridge defense made the difference.
