A two-run seventh inning keyed by former Missouri Tiger Ian Kinsler helped the Texas Rangers earn a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, with a 2-1 victory late Sunday night.
The game was delayed three hours by rain, and didn’t start until 10:04 local time.
Kinsler’s single scored Leonys Martin, who drove in the first Texas run earlier in the inning. The rally also took another former Tiger, Nick Tepesch off the hook for the loss.
Adam Wainwright ends up a tough-luck loser, as the only support he had was Matt Carpenter’s sixth-inning solo home run.
The Cardinals are idle Monday, starting an eight-game road trip Tuesday in Houston. Coverage of game one against the Astros is underway at 6:10 PM.
