Pittsburgh Slides Into First
Lance Lynn completed only four innings, allowing seven runs as the Pittsburgh Pirates rolled into sole possession of first place with an 8-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Neil Walker had three hits and an RBI, with Russell Martin adding a back-breaking three-run home run off of Lynn.
The Pirates have out-homered the Cardinals 18 to 3 in head-to-head competition this season, with a 10-5 record against St. Louis. Pittsburgh, with the win, clinched the season series against the Redbirds.
St. Louis will try and salvage the final game of the series and slip back into a first-place tie to close out the weekend, with the finale beginning at 11:40 on KTGR.
