Mizzou Wrestling kicked off their home schedule with a dominant 37-0 performance over Baker Wednesday night at Hearnes Center.
Senior captain and No. 8 ranked Nathan McCormick got the crowd going early. In the second match of the night, he pinned Baker’s Bo Pursel with 14 seconds remaining in the opening period.
Junior Zach Toal made his first appearance of the season after an injury. The 9th-ranked Toal recorded three takedowns and won 16-2 by major decision. Senior Todd Porter recorded a takedown less than 25 seconds into his match, en route to a decisive 18-4 victory. Porter is currently ranked 20th in the NAIA.
The victory was thorough, as the Tigers collectively did not allow a single takedown or reversal the entire night.
Up next for Mizzou Wrestling is the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, set to get underway this weekend.
