Mizzou Women upend Florida

Looking to position themselves for the postseason, the Tigers took on a Florida team with identical conference and season records.Missouri got up big early and saw the lead slip away until late in the game when they pulled away for a 69-64 victory Thursday night against the Gators.

Missouri raced to a big lead early in the first half, but the Gators closed on a 14-0 run to take a 2 point lead of 34-32.  The Tigers trailed 49-41 before using their own 14-0 run to reclaim the lead halfway through the second half.  Missouri sealed the game with 1:36 left as Sydney Crafton hit a shot to go up 66-64 out of a timeout.  Crafton hit another layup to help put the Gators away.

Liz Smith led the Tigers with 15 points in the game and was one of 4 Tigers in double figures.  Crafton had 13, Morgan Eye had 12, and Lianna Doty had 11 in the game.  Doty also led the team in rebounds (10) and assists (7).

Missouri improves to 14-8 on the season and is now 3-5 in the SEC.  Missouri will be back in action Sunday when they welcome number 9 Tennessee to Mizzou Arena at 1pm.  Pregame begins at 12:30pm on your home for Missouri Women’s Basketball, ESPN 100.5 and Total Sports Station 103.1 KTGR.
