Missouri got a win Thursday night that was six years in the making.Much like they began the month, the Tigers got a program changing victory Thursday when they defeated number 14 South Carolina 65-58 at Mizzou Arena.
Missouri trailed 5-4 at the under 16 timeout of the first half, but would trail only once more, a brief 11-10 deficit, before taking the lead for good at the under 12 timeout of the first half.
The win was Mizzou’s 16th of the season, assuring their postseason eligibility for the first time since 2006-2007. It also establishes a new season high in wins for Robin Pingeton in her 3 seasons at Mizzou.
Mizzou got a career high 26 points from Bri Kulas in the game. It was Senior Night for the Tigers and the 3 seniors combined for 29 points (10 for Liene Priede, 11 for Sydney Crafton, and 8 for Liz Smith). Kulas had a double double in the game, grabbing 12 rebounds to lead the team and 3 Tigers tied for the team lead with 2 assists.
Mizzou is now 16-13 on the season and improves to 5-10 in the SEC. Much of the conference standings are still to be decided before next week’s SEC Tournament in Duluth, GA. The Tigers have one more game remaining in the regular season when they travel to Tuscaloosa, AL for a Sunday game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
