The Mizzou women’s volleyball team has two final chances to make a positive impression on the NCAA tournament selection committee this week. Wednesday, versus Kentucky, and Friday, versus Alabama. The more important of the two games is Wednesday night.
Kentucky will make it’s way to Columbia with an RPI ranked at #24 in the nation. If Mizzou can beat the Wildcats, they have the potential to significantly improve their own RPI, thus improving their chances to make this year’s NCAA volleyball tournament. UK is led by Junior Whitney Billings, who leads the team with 314 kills. Libero Stephanie Klefot is widely regarded as the best in the SEC, averaging 3.87 digs per set this season.
The Tigers will counter with their deadly combination of Molly Kreklow and Lisa Henning. Henning is averaging 4.67 kills per set, which is the second best single season mark in school history. Kreklow is second in the SEC in double-doubles with 19, trailing only Kelsey Robinson from Tennessee.
Both the Kentucky game Wednesday, and the Alabama game Friday, are set to start at 6:30 at Hearnes Center.
