Mizzou survives Missouri State in Springfield

It got a bit hairy in the 8th inning, but in the end, Missouri got a big victory over their in-state rival.

Missouri jumped out to a 5-1 lead and held on through a wild 8th inning for a big 5-4 victory over Missouri State Tuesday night.

Missouri started the scoring in the first when SEC player of the week Keaton Steele drove in Case Munson for the first run of the game. Missouri would add another run in the fourth inning off the bat of Dane Opel and two more runs on a Logan Pearson triple in the 8th. Kendal Keeton would single Pearson home for the game winning run.

Missouri got solid outings from Jace James, Eric Anderson (Making his first appearance since February 24), Brett Graves, and Jake Walsh before turning the game over to John Miles, who forced a game ending double play for the Tiger win.

Missouri is now 12-17 on the season and has won consecutive games away from Taylor Stadium. They head to Nashville, TN to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores this weekend. The series gets underway Friday evening at 630pm. Pregame gets underway at 615pm with Tex Little and Hunter Mense on your home for the Tigers, ESPN 100.5 and Total Sports Station 103.1 KTGR.
