Mizzou Splits in Softball With Western Kentucky
Missouri bounced back from a Game One loss to defeat the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and earn a split of their Wednesday doubleheader at University Field.
Missouri struggled offensively in the opener, leaving nine on base including two bases loaded rally attempts that came up empty. WKU scored their unearned run on a sacrifice bunt that resulted in a throwing error by Tigers third baseman Angela Randazzo. The sophomore threw wildly to first causing Kelsie Mattox to score taking the extra base.
The Tigers found their offense in game two, scoring in each of the first two innings. Jenna Marston drove home Corrin Genovese with a sacrifice fly in the first, and brought home Emily Crane with a run-scoring single in the second.
Mallorie Sulaski issued a pair of bases-loaded walks to Missouri in the fifth, and the Tigers blew it open with three in the sixth.
Missouri (27-8) heads to Kentucky for their penultimate SEC Series, continuing a stretch of eight of 10 games away from University Field. Our final regular season broadcast of Missouri softball comes Saturday, May 4th, during their final regular season series against Tennessee. Our broadcast gets underway at 6:15 on KTGR, in a contest also slated to be televised on ESPN.
