Mizzou softball finished the regular season in a big way. Facing the number 2 team in the country, Tennessee, Missouri won the series with a 12-8 win Sunday at University Field.

The Tigers and Volunteers were washed out on Friday, but played two Saturday.  In the first game, Chelsea Thomas dazzled the fans and confused the Vols on the way to a 2-0 victory for the Tigers.  It was the 14th seperate time she was part of a no-hitter or perfect game in her Missouri career.

In game 2, the Tigers struck first, leading 1-0, but Tennessee roared back to take game 2 of the series, run ruling the Tigers 10-1 in 5 innings.

On Sunday, after the Senior Day festivities, Missouri’s Nichole Hudson did a little of everything.  She took to the circle for the Tigers, pitching a complete game with 6 innings of work.  She struck out 3, allowing 12 hits and 8 earned runs.  Hudson answered at the plate as well, crushing two home runs and driving in 6 as the Tigers won 12-8 in 6 innings.

The series win vs Tennessee propelled the Tigers to the number 3 seed in the upcoming SEC tournament.  They’ll get underway Thursday as they take on Arkansas at 5:30pm with coverage on ESPNU.
