Mizzou Honored in Baseball, Softball, Basketball
It was a busy Monday at Mizzou as baseball, softball, and basketball all received accolades. Two pitchers were named pitcher of the week and three Tiger basketball players recieved All-SEC honors from the Associated Press.
Mizzou Basketball, having completed their first season in the SEC on Friday evening, saw Phil Pressey named second team All-SEC, while Lawrence Bowers and Alex Oriakhi were named as All-SEC honorable mentions. This is the second consecutive second team all-conference honor for Pressey. Bowers was also an all-conference selection in 2010-2011.
Chelsea Thomas seems to be taking her lack of inclusion on the preseason All-SEC team personally as she was named the SEC Pitcher of the week for the 3rd time this season.
Keaton Steele picked up his first SEC honor in his first year with the Mizzou baseball team. He was named SEC Pitcher of the Week by the league office Monday. Last week, he pitched 8 shutout innings, going 1-0, striking out 11, and only one walk.
