Mizzou Gets Historic Victory Behind Eye

Morgan Eye had a game to remember in Mizzou’s first home experience in the SEC.Mizzou welcomed the Auburn Tigers to Columbia for the first ever SEC game at Mizzou Arena.  The home team made it count with a 82-76 victory Sunday Afternoon.

Eye broke several records in the game, including her school record for three pointers.  She had 11 threes in the game.  She set SEC records for most 3′s made (11) and most 3′s attempted (18).

The Tigers started out the game trailing 13-5, but Eye and Doty warmed up to get the Tigers into the lead by halftime.  After the break, Auburn came close throughout the half, several times cutting the lead to 1, but the Tigers were able to respond each and every time.

Along with Eye, three other Tigers were in double figures in the game.  Maddie Stock had 11 points while Liz Smith and Lianna Doty added 10 points each.  Doty added 8 assists while Bri Kulas grabbed 7 rebounds.  The Tigers actually outrebounded Auburn 28-26, despite a significant size disadvantage.

Missouri moves to 12-4 on the season and snaps a 2 game losing streak.  They improve to 1-1 in the SEC and head back out on the road to take on the number 12 Tennessee Lady Vols.  The Tigers and Vols play Thursday at 7pm.  Our pregame coverage begins at 6:45pm on your home for Mizzou women’s basketball, ESPN 100.5 and Total Sports Station 103.1 KTGR.
