The Missouri Tigers made the most of their first chance to see border rival Kansas for the first time in two years, winning 6-3 Saturday at University Field.
Mizzou pounded out 12 hits and two home runs, the first of which came off the bat of freshman Kirsten Mack to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Angela Randazzo drove in a run with a single in the second and two more as she curled a long ball around the left field foul pole to put the Tigers up 5-0.
Casey Stangel cruised from there, allowing three runs, only one earned, on seven hits in a complete-game victory.
Missouri awaits the winner of the loser’s bracket games Saturday evening, needing just one win to advance to Super Regional play for a seventh consecutive season. You can hear the Sunday broadcast beginning at 11:45 on ESPN 100.5 KTGR and KTGR.com.
