Missouri Falls In SEC Hoops Opener

Posted by willp on January 8, 2014

The Missouri Tigers’ 26-game home winning streak has come to an end, following a 70-64 home loss to Georgia on Wednesday night.

The Tigers needed a Jordan Clarkson three-pointer to force the extra session, and blew a five-point lead during OT. Nemanja Djurisic scored five of his 16 to tie the score and Georgia’s Charles Mann did the rest with a team-high 18 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Clarkson had an off night, with 12 points as part of a largely uninspired effort from Mizzou’s 39 percent shooting from the field. Missouri had not lost a home game since February 21, 2012 to Kansas State, with no current members on this team having suffered a defeat at Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers (12-2, 0-1) try to rebound on the road at Auburn Saturday. Coverage begins at 12:30 on KTGR and KCMQ.
