The Kansas City Royals closed out the home portion of the 2013 regular season with a bang as Justin Maxwell’s grand slam won the home finale for KC, 4-0, in 10 innings.
James Shields and Alexi Ogando matched each other, zero-for-zero, as Maxwell’s blast eventually broke the seal. The smash brings the Royals to 3.5 games within the second AL Wild Card spot, trailing Cleveland.
The Royals take their act to the road for the season’s final seven games with trips to Seattle and Chicago. The Royals and Mariners get underway at 9:10 Monday night.
