Kansas City welcomed the Denver Broncos to Arrowhead Stadium Sunday and things were closer than expected.

Kansas City held its first second half lead of the season, but the defense couldn’t contain Peyton Manning as he guided the Broncos to a 17-9 victory over the Chiefs.

It was another week where all of KC’s points came off the right foot of Ryan Succup, who connected from 34, 22, and 49.  His 3rd FG of the day gave the Chiefs a 9-7 lead midway through the 3rd.  The Broncos would respond with 10 unanswered points, including a 30 yard TD from Manning to Demaryius Thomas to pick up the win.

Brady Quinn got the start for the Chiefs and played well.  He was 13/25 for 125 yards.  Manning, his counterpart, was 22/37 fort 285 yards and 2 TD’s.  Jamaal Charles had 107 yards for the Chiefs on 23 carries.

Kansas City falls to 1-10 on the season and 0-6 at home in 2012.  They’ll get another chance at their first home win and their second on the season as they face the Carolina Panthers next Sunday at noon in Kansas City.
